Spammers are targeting job seekers

spamThere has been an enormous surge in spam targeting job seekers.  The difficult economic conditions are definitely driving this.  There have been numerous reports of people putting their resume up on Monster.com and hours later having an inbox full of spam.

My advice is Do NOT post your resume on any online job boards unless you do it anonymously.  When you post your resume online anyone can see it.  Anyone with a little money can set up an employer account and view millions of resumes, extract the information and start sending out spam emails.

    That’s a correct observation, I have seen a surge of friend requests from ‘recruiters’ on linked in. Any one got scammed or spammed by those guys?

    You are right about employer account, never thought it that way. I need to remove my phone number and email address from my online resumes now.
