Google announces layoffs- 100 recruiters layed off

I was just reading Google’s blog (like I do everyday) and I came across the announcment that Google is downsizing over 100 recruiters. This is very frightening to me, if Google can’t thrive in this econony who can. When you get rid off 100 recruiters you are essentially saying, we do not plan to hire anyone for a while. To the best of my knowledge this represents the first downsizing for Google ever. First they cut back on almost all temp workers, now the recruiter cuts, who is next. I predict deep cuts at the “Big G” and this will have a ripple effect on the entire tech sector.
Good luck to all the recruiters that were displaced, I am sure they will find something else in no time as Google hired some of the best recruiters on the west coast..
