Lets face it, searching for a new job is tough work. Trying to find a new job during a recession is as enjoyable as getting a root canal. It is survival of the fittest right now and only the strong will survive. Keep that in mind and you will be fine. As i wrote a couple days ago, your attitude and your approach will make all the difference. Having a positive attitude will help get you through the day. It is up to you, either you can take the job search as a challenge and face it head on or be negative and miserable.
One tip that i give often give my clients during coaching sessions is to try volunteering. If you are working on your job search for 40 hours a week you will burn it quickly. Break up your time and volunteer. The added bonus is that you will be meeting new people and expanding your network. Who knows, this can actually lead to your next job. Hey, it worked for my wife. Last year she spent about 15 hours a week volunteering at my son’s school. When they were looking for a full time teacher the following year she scored the job. Give it a shot…what do you have to lose?
